Stratovox AKA Speak & Rescue is an arcade shoot ’em up developed by Sun Electronics and published by Taito in 1980. It was the first video game to feature voice synthesis.

The player must shoot UFO’s who will attempt to kidnap astronauts that appear on the right side of the screen. If the player lets all the astronauts be kidnapped, the game is over.

Among the voices the player hears are the phrases “Help me, help me”, “Very good!”, “We’ll be back” and “Lucky”. The phrase “Help me” is played during attract mode.
